What is CROS HEARING AID?

CROS stands for Contralateral Routing of Signals.

Who needs to use CROS Hearing Aid?

People with Unilateral Hearing Loss, or hearing loss in only one ear.

What is Unilateral Hearing Loss?

Unilateral Hearing Loss means there is hearing loss in one of the ears but the other ear is normal.

What are the causes for Unilateral Hearing Loss?

Some viral infections

Traumatic brain injuries

Childhood measles and mumps.

How does CROS hearing aid help people who have hearing loss in one of their ears?

A CROS hearing aid consists of two in-the-ear devices, a microphone worn in the ear with hearing loss and a receiver that is worn in the functioning ear. A CROS hearing aid moves sound from the impaired ear (ear with loss) to the normal ear. This hearing aid is designed to help the patient hear in both ears. This hearing aid was made as an alternative to the Unilateral Hearing Aid. The two devices work in unison together. This technology used in CROS hearing aid helps a person with unilateral hearing to have improved audibility on both sides.

What is BiCROS Hearing Aid?

Bilateral Microphone with Contralateral Routing of Signal.

Who needs a BICROS Hearing Aid?

A BICROS Hearing aid is manufactured for people with Bilateral Hearing Loss, or in simple terms Hearing loss in both ears.

What is Bilateral Hearing Loss? How is it caused?

Bilateral Hearing Loss is a loss that affects both ears.

The causes include:

Damage to the inner ear.

The build-up of Ear wax.

Ear infection or unusual bone growth or tumors.

Ruptured Eardrum, better known as Tympanic Membrane perforation.

What does a BiCROS hearing aid do, to help a person with Bilateral Hearing Loss?

Just like a CROS hearing aid, a BiCROS hearing aid includes a microphone that picks up sound from the ear with impaired hearing and a receiver which amplifies sounds to make them more audible in the ear with better hearing. In simpler terms, BiCROS is similar to CROS hearing aids. A CROS Hearing Aid transmits the sound from the ear with poorer hearing to the ear with better hearing, but a BiCROS hearing aid boosts the sounds from both ears and sends it to the better ear.

These Hearing aids are manufactured by most of the top Hearing aid manufacturers and are available in Receiver-In-Canal (RIC) and Completely-In-the-Canal(CIC) models. Their pricing starts at 30000 INR
